Discover 'The Clippy' – Our 1975 Vintage Bus
Welcome to ‘The Clippy’ by Fletcher’s Restaurant, a beloved vintage bus project from Fletcher Andrews, Chef Patron of Fletcher’s Restaurant in Plymouth, and his father, Martin Andrews. This 1975 bus, lovingly restored and affectionately nicknamed Edith Mary in tribute to Fletcher’s grandmother, promises to deliver an exceptional street food experience with a unique twist.
Bringing Fresh, Local Street Food to Plymouth
Get ready for a culinary journey as ‘The Clippy’ heads to the vibrant Barbican, Plymouth’s historic waterfront district. We are aiming for a November 2024 launch, where ‘The Clippy’ will become a staple of the local food scene, serving up freshly prepared street food made with locally sourced ingredients. It’s not just about the food, but the entire experience. As you visit ‘The Clippy’, you’ll be greeted with the charm of a classic 1970s bus that’s been transformed into a modern food haven.
But ‘The Clippy’ won’t only be staying at the Barbican! Keep an eye out for it at local festivals and events, where it will be popping up to bring the same great flavours to different locations around Plymouth and beyond. Whether it’s a bustling street market or a community event, this bus will be there to offer a slice of something special.
A Long-Awaited Return to Plymouth
After an adventurous 13-hour journey back to Plymouth from Norfolk, ‘The Clippy’ has returned to its new home. This journey, made by Martin Andrews, marked the start of a painstaking restoration process. The bus has been meticulously sanded and repainted, bringing back its original 1975 yellow and burgundy colour scheme. Its stunning exterior is a true throwback to its heyday, making it an instant local icon.
A Fully Equipped Mobile Kitchen
Inside, the transformation is even more remarkable. ‘The Clippy’ has been retrofitted with a state-of-the-art kitchen, complete with all the modern equipment necessary for a top-quality street food operation. New electrics have been installed to ensure everything runs smoothly, so whether you’re grabbing a quick bite or sitting down to enjoy a meal, service will be quick, efficient, and delicious.
The upper deck is a feature not to be missed, offering seating for up to 20 guests. This makes ‘The Clippy’ more than just a food truck; it’s a unique dining experience. Enjoy your meal with scenic views from the top deck, soaking in the atmosphere as you savour the flavours of locally sourced produce.
Private Hire and Event Catering
In addition to its regular spot on the Barbican, ‘The Clippy’ will also be available for private hire. Whether it’s a wedding, corporate event, or family gathering, this vintage bus will add a special touch to any occasion. With its retro charm and modern amenities, it’s sure to be a hit at any event. If you want to impress your guests with something a little different, then ‘The Clippy’ is the perfect choice.
Not Just a Bus – A Celebration of Community and Cuisine
What makes ‘The Clippy’ truly special is that it’s not just a food truck; it’s a celebration of community, family, and fantastic food.
